Ruth Sorenson Obituary

Ruth Lillian Sautkus Sorenson passed away on October 19, 2025 at Beehive Homes and Hospice. The family would like to thank the staff for their excellent care and support.

Ruth was born March 6, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to her immigrant father and mother, Louis and Anna Sautkus. She was the second child of the family, joining her big brother Frank. Ruth was proud of her Lithuanian heritage.

She attended schools in Chicago and after graduating, married the love of her life, Donald Sorenson. Ruth met Donald in Chicago while he was taking military training for the Air Force. They were married in San Rafael, California in 1957. After Donald's military service, they moved to Dillon, Montana, Donald's hometown.

Ruth was a Jaycee, belonged to the National Rifle Service and Senior Citizens. She was an avid poker and pinochie player. Ruth and Donald enjoyed many years of card parties in their home with their many friends. Ruth also enjoyed puzzles, reading books, and making many afghans.

Ruth was very proud of her career working for the Dillon Police and Sheriff's Department as a police dispatcher. She also worked alongside her husband, Donald, at the Dillon Middle School.

She is proceeded in death by her beloved husband Donald of 46 years, her infant son, her parents Louis and Anna Sautkus, her beloved brother Frank Sautkus, and sisters-in-law Nancy Sorenson and Caroline Rose.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbra Delano, Donna (Ed) Nolte, Margaret (Fred) Curtis, and Becky (Ed) Ufford. Grandchildren, Daniel (Jayde) Delano, Conrad Curtis, Kieth (Katie) Curtis, Darby Ufford, and Hunter Ufford. Great-grandchildren, Kane Curtis, Charlie Curtis, Knoxyn Curtis, and River Curtis. Sister-in-law Dorothy Reid, Brother-in-law Lynn (Louise) Sorenson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers at this time.

Special thank you to Dr. Hansen and Susie Burgess. Thank you for the love and support you gave to our mother and our family. Thank you for being there when we needed you most. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
