Dad the month of March won't be the same without you. Just knowing your birthday was only 2 days after mine, the month of March you and I shared together. Know that we've gotten older, we find ourselves having more things in common with you, although we didn't always agreed politically, you encouraged us to vote! You taught me love is colored blind, therefore helping me to love my neighbor as myself. I will always cherish the times we spent together, weather painting apartments, going to the laundromat and taking up ALL the dryers and miss you making breakfast sometimes when we were younger. I doing everything I can to let my light shine and be a Godly witness that Through the Holy Spirit I may lead someone, family and friends alike to Christ. So one day, they may be where you are! I love you and miss you more than words could ever say! Love you This_________much! and miss you always!
Your daughter,

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
I wanted to start out my memorial to you this way because, I know that's where you are. How much more precious the memories and even more cherished the legacy you left behind, and to that I'm grateful. As I was going through your tool box today, although you were not in the military, mechanically you played a vital roll. As I was looking through your tools, I saw some screws and extra long nails that were used in aircraft, and saw some of the nuts and bolts, knowing one time or another this was used to fix something. Now I have to find someonesle to get into a debate with during the elections! I was blessed to have you as my earthly father, although sadden that you're no longer physically with us, thankful that you are with your Heavenly Father, Jesus and your love ones. I will always memorialize you in my heart and be thankful for all the character that you instilled in me. The short North will never be the same without you! I will always be proud to have had Alfred A. Couch as MY DAD!

P.S. Thanks for all the duct-tape tips!

Love,
Your daughter

To a Rich and Lively spirited family,

Being a distant but so close grandson, I must say that God has truely showed up in our blessed family. The going home of my grandfather has taken a toll on the family, however, through the love that my Pa-Pa gave we must know that God did His work in and through him.
I remember the day where he sat me on his lap and told me to never say you "Can't" do something, followed by, "because I told you so". Pa-Pa, I love you and I thank God for making me who I am because of the strong roots I have in and from you! You will be forever loved and missed!

Grandma,

I will continue to pray your strength in the Lord. I love you!

Aunt Leona and Family,
How do you say goodbye to an uncle who means the world to you and yet is no longer here so you can tell him so. So I will not say goodbye but "See you uncle when I see you." Uncle Alfred was such an intricate part of all our lives and the memories will be abundant. Mom continues to remind us of how uncle brought us here from Georgia and allowed us to live with his family until we were able to get our own place. What a family man he was. I personnaly remember how he use to pick me up on fridays, go to the White Castle and then take me and the many white castles home with him for the weekends. He would always do that and Aunt Leona always made room for one more, that's what kind of love she has. Family be encouraged that uncle Alfred left each one of us with fond memories of him and he will be truly missed but never forgotten. I love you all and pray God's comfort is sustaining you during this time of our great loss.

To the Couch family: I offer my most sincere condolences upon the loss of your beloved patriarch who I always referred to as "Mr. Couch". Although I really did not know him well, I was always so very fond of him. I remember the days when my friend, Alex , first moved in across the street at 142 Detroit. I often spoke with Mr. Couch out on the front porch of his house. Somehow, just his presence there made the neighborhood seem really good and safe. I enjoyed his stories and his smile. I missed him when he was no longer out on the porch. I will still think of him sitting on his porch and I will remember his sweet smile. Leesa Hunt

Dad, it was hard to let you go. I prayed for one more day to be with you. I know I was being selfish, but I knew God understood. I knew the day was coming soon when God would take you home to be with him, but it was hard when that day finally came. Being your caregiver as well as your daughter makes it extra hard, I know I will grieve for a long time. I will pull my strength from the Lord however and my family. The pain will lessen, and there will be nothing but loving memories of you and what we shared as father and daughter. You made an impact on all of us! Your legacy lives on through us your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and on down the line. You are in a better place now, I pray when my time comes I will be in Heaven with you. I pray that the whole family will one day be there too! I Love you Dad! "See you later alligator!" "After while crockadile!" Wink!

Your Loving daughter,

Granddad,

The service for you today was beautiful and made me realize even more how important you were to our entire family. Thank you so much for being the head of the household with Grandma, and for blessing me with the wonderful mother, uncles, aunts and cousins that I love! I miss you so much and would give anything to have the days back when all of us grandkids would come over to your house to play and visit with you and Grandma. I know you are in a better place and are looking down on us as we try to find comfort. I'm thankful for the memories and will never forget that there isn't another grandfather like you---and I'm so thankful you were mine! Like Aunt Rosemary said, we will take care of Grandma and she is always in my prayers. I could not ask for a more wonderful family to come from and I am proud to be your granddaughter. I'll always miss you and I love you forever!

Love always & until we meet again,
Lindsay

From his perch on the porch Mr. Couch was the watchful eye onto Detroit Avenue for many years. I will miss his presence in the neighborhood but it is a safer and better place because of his long time investment here. Thanks you for keeping faith in our neighborhood all these years.

I was saddened (at first) to hear of your family's loss, but once I read your sister's homage to your father, I knew EVERYTHING was alright.

May God continue to serve as the PRIMARY source of your family's strength as you go forward in this life.

Know that you ARE blessed to have had your father for sooooooo many years.

Wishing you HIS grace and peace.

To My Dad, who I know is looking down from Heaven.
I can only imagine what a reuion you had when the angels ushered you into the presence of God! You are know part of the great cloud of witnesses. I know I will see you one day. Jesus made it possible through the cross and his death burial and ressurection. Tell him I said, "Thank you!" And thank him for interceding on our behalf. I can't thank God enough for you being my earthly father and always being there for me in every way, I couldn't have asked for a better father. God knew what he was doing when he created you. I have been blessed beyond measure to have been your daughter. My heart weeps deeply over the lost of you, but at the same time, rejoices that your in Heaven! So while your there, I know Jesus is preparing a place for us, I know you will be part of that construction crew, sorry you couldn't take the duct tape with you! (L.O.L.I.H.) everything you need will be there. I know you know, that your prayers here on earth were not in vain. Know we will take care of mom. Your wife of 58 years will be with you and all your children and grandchildren too! To all my brothers', sisters' children, nieces, nephews, aunts , uncles, cousins and friends. Dad wants you to be with him in heaven and I want you to go to heaven with me and the only way is to be born again! May the peace of God comfort our hearts at this time. Mom, we love you and will be there for you, you will not be forsaken!
Thank you Pastor Rod and Joni Parsley, Mr. & Mrs. Parsley, Amy and World Harvest Church for being an anchor, a source of strength, encouragement and support for me and my family. My father was not a member of your Church, but you treated him as part of the body. Pastor I love you!!!!!!
To Bishop Eugene Lundy, Thank you for being there for my family, I know in my heart that God brought you to Church of Christ Apostolic Faith, for such a time as this. Thank you for your phone call and words of wisdom, it really ministered to me.
I will ever be so greatful!
