My Poppaw was one of the most loving men I have ever know. I used to LOVE to sit and listen to him sing and play his guitar. Our song was Squaws Along the Yukon, or Ooga Ooga Muska, as I called it. No matter how many times I asked him to sing it, he would always do it with a smile. Thursday night before he passed, I told him Ooga Ooga Mushka... his eyes lit up and he said I love you too!
He loved coming to the farm and picking fresh veggies and strawberries. He loved bacon sandwiches, coffee, and just a little something sweet! :-) He had nicknames for everyone, mine was Eesy, Brittany was Cricket, Brett was Jake, Luke was Lukeyy and Layla was Peanut.
He took me on my first real vacation. He loved to talk and tell stories. He loved his plaid pants and thin white tee shirts. He loved hugs.
He loved being outside and having a garden when he was able.
He will be missed, but I know he is in a better place.
I know he loved me and my kids and we will all miss him dearly.

I will always remember Al as being quick to smile and laugh. He enjoyed telling stories over coffee. He knew the wisdom of gentle words and was the kindest man I have ever known. His heart was as big as the Kentucky hills he knew and loved. I have lost a friend. May God's will for him be complete, and God's favor ever rest upon him. Blessings.
Our thoughts and prayers will be with his family and friends during this time.
