Anna Frances Portisch

PORTISCH Sister Anna Frances Portisch, a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur, died on June 1, 2010, at the age of 102 in the 85th year of her religious life. She was born on December 6, 1907, in Columbus, OH, to Leopold and Frances Gelner Portisch of Austria. She is preceded in death by her parents, her three brother and three sisters, including Sister Stephanie Portisch, also a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. During her 68 years of teaching, Sister Anna Frances taught in schools in Chicago and Calumet City, IL, Phoenix, AZ, Dayton, Columbus, Hamilton and Cincinnati, OH. She retired to a ministry of prayer at Mount Notre Dame Health Center in 1996. The visitation will take place on Monday, June 7, at Mount Notre Dame Health Center, 699 E. Columbia Avenue, Cincinnati (821-7448) from 1-2:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. in the convent chapel. The burial service will occur on June 8 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of St. Joseph Cemetery in Columbus, OH. Memorials may be made to the Retirement Fund of the Sisters of Notre Dame, 701 E.
