Anne Karam Obituary

KARAM Anne M. Karam, age 98, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Sunrise on the Scioto. She was born February 14, 1913 in Lebanon and migrated to the USA with her parents, Tarooze and Elias Karam on September 29, 1913. Her whole life was spent offering herself, without regret, to her family and everyone she met. At age 15 she worked at Tygart Valley Glass Comany in Washington, PA to support her parents and eight siblings. In 1942 she led the move to Columbus, gaining employment at Curtis-Wright Aviation and its successor, until about 1973. In 1974, employed by Ohio Department of Taxation, she was granted a retirement waiver because of her work record until 1988. Her greatest gift was her undying devotion to God, her faith and her eternally, unselfish, positive outlook on life. She touched literally hundreds of friends and family members with these gifts throughout her life. She never knew an enemy. This lifelong embrace of love to the last moment of her life had the effect of drawing love out of other people, making them more virtuous-- the true mark of a saint. She lived the words of Jesus, who after washing the feet of the Apostles said, "Love one another as I have loved you." People who knew her were blessed by her virtue and faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Maheb Warden, Jenny Elias, Virginia Karam, Marcia Zimmerman and brother Sam Karam. Survived by sisters, Lateefy Pharo and Florence Baker; brother, Joseph Karam; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Friends may call SATURDAY, May 7, 2011 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 5-8 p.m. and SUNDAY, May 8 from 5-8 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on MONDAY, May 9 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy, Rev. Fr. Michael B. Watson, Presider. Interment will follow at the Mount Calvary Cemetery, 518 Mount Calvary Avenue. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish, may contribute in memory of Anne to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. I was blessed to have a short visit with Anne on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Sunrise. Although she didn't remember me, we shared a loving, pleasant and sweet conversation that day as we had many times over the past 39 years. Anne is a Saint in my book and a role model that I have always admired. God bless Anne.

Anne
I am so sad to hear that you are gone and I was not able to say goodbye. I have only known you for a short while, but you touched my heart in so many ways. I loved listening to your stories and was envious of your love for life. You seemed to be a true angel from heaven, I'm so blessed to have met you.
