August Meyer Obituary

MEYER August Henry Meyer, 63, of Pataskala, passed on to the Lord in his home on Thursday, January 27, 2011, surrounded by his family. He left us after an amazing and courageous five year fight with cancer. He was born May 13, 1947 in Granbury, Texas, to the late Frank and Dell Meyer; he was one of seven children. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1969. August worked for the U.S. Senate from 1973-1993 retiring after 20 years, then he moved his family to Columbus. He will be dearly missed by family and friends for his dedication, generosity, and sense of humor. He loved hanging out with the love of his life to whom he was married for 41 years and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play football and soccer. He loved golf and was a life-long Sooners and Cowboys fan. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary (aka, Babe); his children, Jane, Prudence (Joey),Heather (Will), and August Jr. (Tara); grandchildren, Augie, Amber, Christian, Alicia, Justin, Carson, Cale, and Addison; siblings, Bob, Joe, Margaret, Bill, and Neva; mother-in-law, Gloria Hackney; and many nieces; nephews and other loved ones. Last, but not least, his little buddy, Rusty, whom he rescued in 2003, (His Jack Russell). He was preceded in death by parents and older brother, Lacy.
