Barb and I became Partners in June of 1985, my best friend introduced us at a political study group. I spent 4 or 5 Sunday evenings that Spring flirting with a brilliant older woman who was passionate about social justice issues. Little did we realize we would spend the next 28 years together. We would raise her Great Niece Natasha and watch her grow into an amazing powerful woman with a blend of our influences. Barb and I agreed Natasha was our greatest joy, our best and our hardest work. I hope I'm able to continue the adventure without the best co-parent anyone could ever hope to have.

Barb loved me, her pets, her family, and was passionate about many political causes. She was very proud to be an old Anti-War Activist from the 60's, a committed Social Worker, and a very Out Lesbian. She believed in looking for the good side in people and constantly reminded me to try and do the same.

I'll miss who she used to be before the strokes ravaged her brain, but I am relieved she is finally free again to do what she wants. She always said death didn't scare her because she had a dog pack waiting to greet her. I believe there are some happy dogs today.

In high school I gave Tasha a frog (Stuart) for her birthday because she really wanted one. I remember Carmen being super upset about that (lol) but Aunt Barb did not mind because she loved animals, especially Chauncey!

Before Tasha and I could drive, Aunt Barb came to pick me up from home when we had a snow day and took us to star liner diner! I thought that was exciting to be able to do something fun (and delicious) when we would usually be at school.

Aunt Barb and Carmen have always been very supportive of Tasha and me as well, I appreciated always being welcome in their home and having them as part of my support system.
