I know this a late entry but throughout my illness and having to move back to my hometown I've wondered about Dr Friedman. He was my PCP while I lived in Columbus. Being new to the city I got lost and was late for my first appointment and he wouldn't see me. Well from that day forward I was NEVER late again. He was truly one of the BEST ♡ So Sorry to read about his passing.

I have a photo of Barry on my office wall and I try to follow his example of compassion and thoroughness in medical care. He is still an inspiration to many who trained under him and also for those of us who were fortunate to work with him after our training.

At this 3rd year since Barry Friedman's passing, we can not remember what we said to prompt you to write us of this date; but we do remember Barry and his kindness and compassion for all those who knew him. Adjectives that come to mind in describing Barry are - thorough, gentle, encyclopedic, empathetic, and well, you know him well and they add up to our missing a true loving friend and colleague, who lived life well.

Barry and I were classmates in the 1964 class of 300+ at Lorain High School (where I ranked first and Barry did very well too).

I remember him as friendly and quiet with an easy laugh. We visited each other's homes occasionally to talk about books and other scholastic subjects.

I've thought of him occasionally through the decades, athough I never encountered him after high school. I have no doubt that he became an excellent doctor.

Just yesterday, August 15, I learned of Dr. Friedman's death. I was out of state when he passed away and did not know of this sorry event. He was my personal physician for 25 years before his retirement and was truly a world class physician. In my opinion, he was a strike force for the medical profession, an inspiration to his patients, engendering wonderful confidence in his care and counsel. It was a sad day for his patients and profession when to lose him.

Dr. Friedman was a wonderful mentor in residency clinic. He had a vast knowledge of physical examination rarely seen in physicians today, and he loved to share his knowledge with all. Always kind, and willing to help and offer an ear for a difficult case. I am sorry to hear of his passing.

Dr. Friedman was my doctor for some twenty years and he was the best doctor I've ever had. The care for his patients was well noted as I have encountered other patients of his who agree with that. His retirement letter began "It is with mixed emotions" as he informed his patients of his retirement. It was a sad moment in time. I was very glad to see him later at Morehouse Medical and when I asked him how and what he was doing, he said he was working with the residents. His expertise in that area was valuable. I will miss seeing him around. He was one of a kind. My sympathies to his wife and family.

Dr. Friedman was a great and knowledgeable physician and teacher. He was very kind and you could tell he really cared about helping us, as residents, learn how to be better doctors. I finished residency several years ago but when I heard of his passing I had an overwhelming feeling of sadness. He will certainly be missed.
