I have lived in the same neighborhood as Bette for many years. Bette and I first met through our involvement in Salem PTA. We worked at Ohio State during the same time period.
I saw the notice just today and want to express my deep sympathy.

Dear Kit, Josef and Aidan:
Lowell and I were in Alabama until late Wednesday night, and picked up Josef's message when we got home. We are so sorry to hear of Bette's passing! Lowell and I will always remember her love of whales, and how we would search to find the "perfect" whale Christmas card to send her. I will also remember how graciously she opened her home to host my bridal shower.
While there are no words we can say at this time, know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
