I was a graduate student at UCDavis when Biao was a postdoc. He was an absolute pleasure to be around - incredibly smart, humble, funny. We got our jobs and moved on, but maintained contact over the years as editors/reviewers for many journals. I was always hoping to see him at some meeting, but it never happened. It was really sad to hear the news - he was so young ! My thoughts go out to his family.

Our family is so saddened by this loss. What a gentle soul with a beautiful smile that let everyone know how kind he was and how much he loved others. A quietly brilliant man. He will still be with you, in no small part, by how Arthur and Adeline live their lives each day. I know you will find comfort in your family of friends who surround you. Carole Weiss
