Catherine was Dr Wrigh's nurse where many of my family were patients. I remember Catherine from my time as a young boy going to DR Wright . She was so kind and comforting. I later got to know her as a clerk at the German Village Big Bear. What a great lady. She always lit up when we saw each other, a kind word, a smile or a similar gesture always directed my way. Catherine made me smile, as I am now, years later! Rest in Peace Catherine! I will never forget you!

So sorry to hear about Catherines passing, Back in the late 40s when she and wheeler lived in a row of flats on south 6th street, I used to go visit them, I was under 5 years old and I would set on a stool in the kitchen and visit with them. She always sent me and my brother birthday cards every birthday. She was a wonderful person and I am sure God was waiting with open arms for her.

With a tear in my eye as I write: I had the honor of living on Berger Alley (German Village) right next door to Catherine back in the 1970's and 1980's (we shared "driveways" in between our homes). I was a growing young man in my 20's and 30's; she was a "middle-aged woman" aka "older lady". Beyond labels we instantly became and were "best of friends" - she was always a delight and was full of spirit, wit and constant, true friendship. I can honestly say she is/was the kind of friend who is hard to replace; when I moved away (years ago) I have always missed her presence, and now we all will miss her even more.
I remember the first day I moved into my home there on Berger Alley - back in 1978: after moving all boxes and furniture inside, it was turning dark outside and I was starving! I saw a light in the window of the home next door. I knocked on the door and as an older woman peaked out through the curtains, I asked "excuse me - I just moved in next door, do you know of a place nearby to get some food"? Catherine replied "just a minute" and soon she was outside with a small cardigan sweater covering her shoulders. She said "come with me". We proceeded to walk and talk the five blocks south, then two west when she pointed to the family restaurant on the corner - "right there", she said. "Won't you join me?", I asked. "No" she replied, "I just wanted to make sure you made it here alright!" THAT, as you all know is and was the Catherine we all knew and loved! She was ALWAYS this way - kind, loving, selfless, genuine...too many positive words to express here...((-:
Suffice it to say that if everyone read (and followed) "The Book of Catherine" - as to how to live your life and how to treat other human beings - most all of the problems of this "modern world' in which we live would be eliminated!!!
GOD BLESS YOU CATHERINE - YOU TOUCHED AND ENRICHED ALL OF OUR LIVES!!! ((-;

Catherine was Dr Wright's assistant when I was a child! Sevaeral of my brothers and sisters hat surgery performed by Dr. Wright. She was most comforting to us and our family!
Later as an employee at Big Bear German Village I met her again and have maintained a freindship with her for many years!
Catherine always made me smile and her independence was astounding! I and the Meier family will dearly miss her!!

Catherine was one of the best people I have ever met. I feel very blessed that she included me and my wife, Barb, in her life. We could have never asked for a better friend. Heaven is now a better place with Catherine there.

Catherine was my Berger Alley neighbor years ago and my visits with Catherine through the years have been incredibly inspiring. Her enthusiasm and positive outlook were a joy to experience. I was constantly energized by Catherine's zest for life. A personal "thank you" to Fred Tingley, Catherine's neighbor, for your wonderful daily care given to our beloved Catherine. Catherine's religious faith was unsurpassed and she always greeted me with assurance that she was keeping my wife in her prayers. In the final year of her life Catherine said "..you have to keep yourself open to all of life's possibilities." I will cherish our visits and her memory forever.

May angels greet my dear friend Catherine. She was a strong, independent, devout person and I will miss our regular sharing of chuckles and stories long distance by phone. My sympathies and eternal gratitude to her neighbors and friends who exhibited so many kindnesses to her over the past years. Our lives have been enriched by her presence and will be sadder with her absence.

Sad to hear of Catherine's passing. She was a great friend and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She worked into her 80's and was a lover of reading and walking until her body would no longer let her. Having known her for over 25 years from "the village", I especially will miss her sunny outlook, her way of always lifting your spirits, and the many prayers she gave to God in our honor over the years. Our condolences to her family, her church family and her many neighborhood friends. I'm sure Catherine (our guardian angel) is smiling down from heaven on us all.

My Mother Kathy is the niece of Uncle Wheeler Allen and Aunt Catherine. She just went to see Aunt Catherine last Friday and it meant so much to Aunt Catherine to have my Mom, sister and brother visit her. Aunt Catherine was such a Godly women, you were just humbled when you would talk to her. She is where she has wanted to be and God Blessed her precious soul.
