Catherine Zamarelli Obituary

Zamarelli (Mollica) Catherine "Katie" (Mollica) Zamarelli, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Brookdale Pinnacle Senior Living Center. She is preceded in death by parents Bruno and Margaret (Sergi) Mollica, husband Andrew, daughter Debborah Moore and sister Mary Amidon. She is survived by her three daughters, Tina (Jack) Middendorf, Andrea (Kirk) Adler and Jodi Zamarelli; grandchildren, Amber Moore, Adrian (Danielle) Moore, Johanna Middendorf; and great-granddaughter, Azure Lewis. In addition, Katie is survived by brothers, Patrick (Norma) Mollica, Anthony Mollica and Joseph (Linda) Mollica; sister, Anna Rose Kunzen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Katie was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish for over 60 years. She served on various committees and boards for the church and school. Katie began her working career managing the cosmetic counter at downtown Lazarus. Along with her husband Andy, they founded Mama Lucia's Restaurant in Hilliard, followed by Zamarelli's Pizza Palace in Grove City. Zamarelli's continues to be family owned and operated for over fifty years. Katie was a tireless advocate for developmentally disabled children and adults. Throughout her lifetime, she continuously fought for education, housing, issues and rights to improve the lives of those with developmental concerns. Her family will receive friends on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 4-8 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus (with a Prayer Service at 7:45 p.m.). Funeral Mass 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 3730 Broadway, Grove City 43123. Burial to follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be to: Ohio Health Hospice, P.O. Box 600001 Columbus, OH 43272. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Brookdale and the Hospice team of Ohio Health for the loving care and compassion they provided for our mother.
