Cecilia Murray

MURRAY Cecilia (Snyder) Murray, age 86, passed away peacefully on November 24th, 2008 at Forest Hills Center with her family by her side. She was born in Columbus on February 12, 1922, and was the youngest of nine children born to John and Margaret (Mae Linton) Snyder. She graduated from West High School and married John W. "Jack" Murray, a WWII Coast Guard Veteran, on October 2nd, 1948. She was a long-time active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus and volunteered for many groups including St. Clare's Circle. Along with raising a family Cecilia enjoyed a career with the Easter Seals and retired from the Ohio Department of Taxation. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret Snyder, husband Jack Murray, sisters Emma (Sister Therese Marie), Margaret (Bright) and Agnes (Schwinne), brothers Francis, John, Joseph, Paul and Aloysius. She is survived by her daughter, Anne (Kevin) Meyers of Westerville and their children, Caitlin and Colleen; her son, John, (Jenny) Murray of Dublin and their children, Andrew and Lauren; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. Broad Street, on Friday, November 28, from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Rosary will be at 8 p.m. A celebratory Mass of Cecilia's life will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 1300 Urban Dr. on Saturday, November 29 at 10 a.m. Burial to immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Cecilia's family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many health care professionals at Forest Hills who made her final years comfortable and fulfilling.
