Charles Cowan Obituary

Charles Lewis Cowan, Sr., better known as "Chuck", of Lafayette, TN, was born on Thursday, July 7, 1966 in Davidson County, TN, to Charles Gilbert and Linda Grubbs Cowan, who survive. He departed this life on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the age of 47 years, 6 months and 6 days.

Funeral services for Chuck Cowan were conducted from the Anderson and Son Funeral Home in Lafayette on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Chris Davis officiating. Interment followed in the Haysville Cemetery. Family and friends served as his pallbearers.

On April 30, 1988, Chuck was married to the former Molly Taylor, who also survives. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Chuck was employed by Don Buchanan Trucking Company in Murray, KY, delivering mail to various post offices in the area. Chuck was very involved in our community, having served as president of the Macon County Little League for several years, coaching Pee-Wee Football and he had also helped coach football for the Macon County Junior High Tigers. He was a previous member of the Macon County Board of Education.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Gilbert Cowan, Jr. In addition to his wife of 25 years, Molly, and his parents, Chuck and Linda, he is survived by a daughter, Clarissa Gentry; son and daughter-in-law, Chuckie and Krystal Cowan; granddaughter, Anna Gentry, all of Lafayette; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Beverly Mitchell of Palmersville, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Teresa and Eric Fleming, and Tammie and Mickey Swindle; brothers and sister-in-law, Joel and Janet Cowan, and Toby Cowan, all of Lafayette; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
