Charles A. "Chuck" DeVault

DeVault Charles A. "Chuck" DeVault, age 76, of Centerburg, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Centerburg Pointe. He was born on February 19, 1939, in Powell, Ohio to the late Raymond and Otta Mae (Duffy) DeVault. A machinist by trade, he retired from Western Electric after 36 years. Described as one who tinkered, he had a keen interest in reading, learning and discovering how things worked. Chuck was a member of the Centerburg Church of Christ. From his garage at home, he enjoyed building street rods, especially his 1953 Ford. His CB handle was "Cadillac". He was also a member of the Mustang Club. Always kind and loving, fishing trips to Canada and out West will long be remembered. With a curious mind he loved life, his many friendships, and especially his family. He was a member of the F.O.E. Sunbury Aerie No. 3614 and the Sunbury Sportsman's Club. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Brandenburg) DeVault; daughter, Debbie (Jeff) Lykins of Canal Winchester; step children, Dale Valley, Laurie (John) Boley, Kim (Paul) Cortright; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph (Julie) DeVault of Buckeye Lake, David (Connie) DeVault of Mansfield; and sister, Carolyn (Mike) McConnel of Idaho. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great grandson and step-daughter Diane Valley. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. on Monday at the DeVORE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, SR's 3 at 61, Sunbury, where service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastors Roger Crego and Fred Albrecht officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg.
