Charles Dozier Obituary

DOZIER Charles Ray Dozier, age 77, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2011, at Zusman House. He was born in Lindsay, OK, on September 14, 1933, to the late Clark and Lena Lasca Dozier, and spent most of his life in Fresno, Calif. After graduating high school, Charles served our country in the US Air Force, and then began a career in construction. After moving to Ohio, he continued working, eventually retiring from Mid-Ohio Construction. Charles was a master woodworker, constructing beautiful furniture, cabinets, and guitars. He enjoyed fishing, and he was a prolific reader, especially of mysteries and westerns. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, rocking his grandchildren, playing guitar and singing to them. He was preceded in death by his brothers Lee Edward and Dion Dozier. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nancy Dozier; children, Michael Dozier and Sue (Tom) Foley; grandchildren, Jarrod Scott and Jesse Taylor Dozier, and Patrick Kendall and Shannon Noel Foley; brother-in-law, Madison F. Sharp; former sister-in-law, Fran Senft; close family members, Barb and Jim Foley and their family; wonderful friends, especially Larry Yamaoka and Bob Senft; and great neighbors, Avon and Carol, Kara, and Vicky and Dan. Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2011, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, where a funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. Pastor Stephanie Boaz officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Zusman Hospice, 1151 College Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43209. Visit www.schoedinger.com to share a favorite memory or condolence.

Jon & I have many fond memories of dinner at the Gahanna Grill with Chuck & Nancy and a host of others. He was an absolutely delightful man who will be sorely missed by so many. God bless all of you as you go thru the next several days. I am quite certain Chuck is smiling down on all of you!
