McConnell, III, Charles
1971 - 2017
Charles (Chuck) Lee McConnell III, age 45, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 at his home in Johnstown after a battle with cancer. He was born December 2, 1971 in Columbus, Ohio to Charles Lee McConnell Jr and Kathy (Horton) McConnell. He married Shelly Dreisbach of Gahanna, OH on November 16, 1996 in Gahanna. Chuck is survived by his wife and their three children: Erin, Ashley, and Brandon all of Johnstown. He is also survived by his mother, Kathy of Columbus, his in-laws George and Karen Dreisbach of Johnstown, Billy and Ann Dreisbach , his nephews, William and Tyler of Centerville, OH, close family friends Bret and Kelly Layman and Jason and Lisa Hursey, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father and maternal grandparents. Chuck was a 1990 graduate of Mifflin HS in Columbus. He was a devoted employee of Team Fishel in Hilliard, Ohio since 1994. He was a man of integrity with a strong work ethic that not only enabled him to excel in his career, but also as a husband, father, and friend. Chuck had a passion for sports that he shared with his family and community. He spent many hours on the road, in gyms, and on fields as a parent so that his children had every opportunity possible. Chuck extended his passion of sports to the community by volunteering as a coach for both the Johnstown youth league and Johnstown Monroe School District. He was involved in both middle school and Varsity Softball programs for several years. He also enjoyed playing hockey. He was a fan of the Columbus Blue Jackets and never missed a home opener in the history of the franchise. Memorial service will be held at Johnstown Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, August 29 at 11:00 am with Pastor Kevin Heckathorn officiating. Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, Johnstown. Words could never express the sorrow we feel in the loss of Chuckie. Aunt Kathy, just know Chuck is no longer in pain and he is hanging out with Grandma Horton (trying to rub noses - with him saying "you want to mess around") I will keep you in our prayers
