Christos G. Pardos

Pardos Christos G. Pardos, died peacefully at his home in Galloway, Ohio on Saturday following an extended illness. He was born July 16,1935 on the Greek Island of Ikaria to Elias and Lemonia Pardos. In addition to his military service in the Greek army he spent seven years in the Merchant Marines. He immigrated to the United States in 1970 and became a naturalized citizen in 1975. He was a licensed steamer and boiler operator and worked 16 years as a maintenance mechanic for Nestle's until they closed the Sunbury plant in 1992. He was a gifted writer and published a compilation of poems he had written during his years in the Merchant Marines. Following that, he wrote and published an additional 12 novels and short stories. He was honored for his work with an award given by the Pan-lcarian Brotherhood of Athens. He was a member of the Christ E. Aivaliotis Chapter of the Pan-P Icarian Brotherhood of America. Christos was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Elias of Dayton, Ohio and one sister Vasiliki of Pireaus, Greece. He is survived by his son, George of Columbus, Ohio; granddaughter, Demi Dunkle of Columbus, Ohio; grandson, Antonio of Washington, D.C.; close friend, Ruth Bingman of Galloway, Ohio; sister, Stamatula of Icaria; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by the many school friends of Demi who called him "Papou". Visitation will be Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at the O. R. WOODYARD CO. NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 2990 Bethel Road and 1 hour (11 a.m.-12Noon) prior to the funeral service Friday, December 12 at 12Noon. Father Demetrios Gardikes will officiate. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Cardington.
