Claire Byers Obituary

Byers Claire Mae (Gregoire) Byers ended life's journey and departed this earth on November 5, 2014 at the age of 93. Born on April 28, 1921, Claire was a former resident of Upper Arlington, Trillium Crossing, Stafford Senior Apts., Oakleaf Village and most recently Wesley Glen, and was retired from Chemical Abstract Services. Preceded in death by her parents Dick and Olive Gregoire, and former husband Robert C. Byers. Survived by daughters, Robyn Byers, Colleen Roberts and Darcy Byers; grandchildren, Jason Byers and Danielle Walters, Maegan Roberts and Ryan Roberts as well as beloved pets, Monsieur Gregoire (Greg) and Sugar Bear. Claire was a beautiful and talented young woman who sang and danced her way into audiences hearts in the Washington D.C. area before returning to Columbus, marrying and having a family. Claire had a flair for fashion, an eccentric personality, loved traveling in Europe and enjoyed gatherings with friends, as well as spoiling her devoted pets. No service will be held. Thank you to the Wesley Glen staff, Hospice at Methodist Eldercare and friends who provided support over the years. Friends may leave messages of condolence at www.rutherfordfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Claire's name to the Ohio Health Foundation for Ohio Health Neuroscience Center at Riverside Methodist Hospital, 180 E. Broad St., 31st Floor, Columbus, OH 43215, or to the Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Rd, Columbus, OH 43215.
