Clifford Greene Obituary

GREENE Clifford N. Greene, 91, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Westminster-Thurber. He was born October 28, 1919, in Columbus, son of the late James and Gertrude Swigart Greene. In addition to his parents, Cliff was preceded in death by his son Glenn Greene and nine brothers and sisters. He attended C.C.A.D. and taught art for the Gillie Center. Cliff served in the Navy during WWII and retired from The Coca Cola Bottling Co. after 43 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Ruth Jones Greene; son, Gene (Phyllis) Greene; daughters, Lin (Dimitri) Smirniotopoulos and Marty (Ed) Nabakowski; brother, Robert (Marge) Greene; sister, Alean Tope and Shirley Anne Hines; grandchildren, Brent, Scott, Amy, Richard, Tami, Chris, Michael, Paul, Josh, Chad, Ted, Jim and Shelly; 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, June 16, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at Linworth Baptist Church, 6200 Linworth Rd., Worthington. Funeral service will be Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the church. Entombment will be in Union Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME NE CHAPEL, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus.
