Daniel McCarty Obituary

McCARTY Daniel Patrick McCarty, 42, of Delaware, died unexpectedly Sunday evening at Riverside Methodist Hospital after a brief illness. He was born November 4, 1966 in Camden, N.J. to Daniel Patrick McCarty Sr. and Mary Kettner. He served in the United States Air Force for 12 years during which time he served in the Gulf War. He was a 2007 graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene University receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Leadership and was currently working in purchasing at the North American Bus Company in Delaware. Prior to that, he had worked in purchasing at Honda of Marysville. He was a member of AA and the VFW and attended St. Mary Catholic Church, Delaware. He was very generous and caring and had a fine sense of humor and teasing. He loved children, shooting, fishing, and dogs, especially his chocolate lab "Dutch". He was a devoted father to his two daughters, Joanna Irish McCarty and Jenna Holly McCarty, both of Bowling Green, Oh. He is also survived by his mother, Mary (Jim) Hannum of Perrysburg; sister, Margaret Mary (Thomas) Nicholson of Worthington; brother, Brian Joseph (Maureen) McCarty of Toledo; step-brothers, Jim (Cindy) Hannum Jr. of Toledo, Steven (Jeanne) Hannum of Erie, Mich. and Scott (Renee) Hannum of Carlsbad, Calif.; step-sister, Beth Bragg of Baltimore, Md.; numerous nieces and nephews; his "adopted son", Teigen (Heidi) Gavrilovic of Mentor, Oh. and his children, who called him "Papa Dan", Gabreal and Gavyn Gavrilovic and Alexa Jones. He was preceded in death by his father in September 2009. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 23 from 9-9:45 a.m. at the RODMAN NEEPER FUNERAL HOME, 1510 W. William St., Delaware. Funeral mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware with Fr. David Schalk officiating. The St. Mary Bereavement Committee will then host a reception in the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home Community Room. Graveside service will then be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Dayton VA National Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.rodmanneeper.com
