Daniel Lee Shields passed away at home on Thursday, July 15, 2021, after a 16-month battle with pancreatic cancer. As he dealt with all experiences in life, Dan managed his illness with courage and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by his loving wife of 36 years, Debra K Shields; their children, William Lee (Shawnee) and Matthew Alan (Erin). In addition to Debra, Lee and Matt, Dan is survived by his father, Thomas Shields; and brother, Scott Shields. He was predeceased by his mother Judith Shields. A self-made man born and raised in Columbus before moving to Grove City, Dan grew to find his life's calling as a husband, father, and business owner. A man filled with an unwavering devotion for family, Dan's tireless work ethic was always paused to make time for family events, holidays and supporting his children in any way possible. If you asked Dan, his greatest accomplishments weren't the numerous accolades he received at Shields Home Inspections or heading up many major community events, such as the Hilltop Bean Dinner or Lindbergh Playground Drive. It was being a father for two boys that still believe he's superman. It was marrying his high school sweetheart and living a joyous life together. Friends may gather Monday, July 26, 2021 from 2PM until time of memorial service at 4PM at THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus Street, Grove City, Ohio.
