Daniel L. Smalley Jr., "Dan/Danny", age 45 passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at home and went to be with the Lord. Dan was a very active member of the Catholic Church. He served as a lector and member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Catharine Church. Most recently, Dan had returned to St. Joseph Cathedral, the church where he went through the RCIA program in 2002 and began his journey to be baptized Catholic. It was here his daughter was baptized. Dan was a lector at St. Joseph's and he and his daughter would greet together on Sunday mornings. Dan's deep and abiding faith and love for Christ helped him, in his own words to "feel he could become a strong administrator of all that Jesus came to do and teach." Dan was a wonderful father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. His unwavering love and deep bond with his daughter Grace was evident to everyone who saw them together. He was a kind, humble, gentle and compassionate man who was deeply loved by so many. Dan was born in Grove City, PA August 7, 1972. He moved to Columbus, OH in 1999 where he attended Franklin University. There he met his wife Angela and they were married August 30, 2003. He worked as a carpenter framing and building homes in Columbus for 18 years. He enjoyed playing and recording music, playing guitar, gardening, woodworking and spending time with his beloved daughter Grace. Preceded in death by his brother Eric Shon, maternal and paternal grandparents and aunts and uncles. Survived by his loving wife of 15 years Angela (Thompson) Smalley; his treasured daughter Grace Elizabeth; father Daniel L. (Rosemary) Smalley Sr., mother Barbara (Vito) Jiancristoforo; brother Aaron (Tina) Smalley; sister Sarah (Mike) Slicker, step siblings and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI Funeral Home, 1068 S. High St. Tuesday, January 9th from 4-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Cathedral, 212 E.
