Daniel Tallan Obituary

TALLAN Daniel Elan Tallan, born June 26, 1968 in Dayton, Ohio, died peacefully November 11, 2008. Dan lived a lifetime in too short a span. He loved and was loved by family, friends and animals. Dan had a passion for cooking, music, poetry, extreme sports and natural causes long before it was popular or fashionable. He loved the finer things in life, but was quick to give a smile, a hug or a handout. Dan is survived by his parents, Norman and Joan Tallan; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Mitchell and Lynn Tallan, Eric and Barbara Tallan and Mark and Kerstin LeMaire-Tallan; nieces and nephews, Aaron, Alexi, Hannah, Joseph, Benjamin, and Nathan. He was predeceased by his dog Shakti, and survived by his beloved dog Monkey. He will be missed. A private memorial service will be held for his family. Dan's family requests that any memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of Kona, Hawaii, or to the Zusman House Hospice in Columbus, Ohio. Online guestbook at www.epsteinmemorial.com. How has this already been 12 years ago? The ties from our elementary years are strong. He was an awesome roller skater! Peace to all!

I grew up with Danny from elementary to high school and we were friends...had not thought about him until this week, and the funny thing about it is I think about the mohawk haircut first...that's how I remember the fun Danny- with the most awesome mohawk!! Way ahead of his time in that regard. I am deeply saddened to hear of our loss. My deepest condolences and sympathies to the entire family. Danny will be missed by so many...

I was never close to Danny in high school, but I always admired his zeal for life that was evident even back in high school. He added an element of fun and kept our teacher, Mrs. Smith on her toes in our Spanish classes! I will never forget the black leather jacket that complimented his mohawk perfectly! For some reason I also remember he loved animals a lot back then and I admired that as well. My deepest sympathy to his beloved family and dog, Monkey.

I saw Daniel on some good days, and I saw him on some not-so-good days. I saw him generous, and I saw him angry. I always wished him the best. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

It is amazing how much this news breaks my heart. I was never that close with Danny, but I did know him from elementary school through high school... To his family- I am deeply sorry for your loss. I hope you can find some comfort in the memories of Danny. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I knew Danny from high school. He was a great person...always fun and entertaining. Unfortunately, we haven't been in touch since then. My sincere condolences go out to his family.

Danny was my first ever neighbor and my first idol. He influenced my own punk rock and extreme sports phases and I always wanted to hang out with him (but was too young). It's great to see that he influenced others and lived life to its fullest. The world just got a little less cool, and a lot less fun. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

We were the neighbors next door with three young children, when Danny was a kid. We watched him and his brothers grow, as they lived a very full, and sometimes, mischievous, but always energetic, life. Your family is in our prayers in the season of mourning.

Danny could always make people laugh. He was a great person with a kind heart and a great sense of humor. His different 'hair phases' in high school would always crack me up, and he made it difficult for some of us to get to school on time :-). I have many great memories of Danny and he'll truly be missed.

Danny was the second person I met when I moved to Northmont. His friendship made the new surroundings much easier. It is funny to see Heather mention the mohawk.... My 6 year old wanted, and got one this summer (after much debate). All I could think of, was how cool Danny was when he got his. You will be sorely missed, my friend.

Danny was a beautiful person inside and out. His smile could light up a room. My condolences to his family and friends.

I'm so sad to hear about Danny. I have so many fun memories of our childhood on Greenbay Drive...4th of July parties, backyard football, soccer and baseball games. I remember his black leather motorcycle jacket and his mohawk. Even though we weren't friends in high school, he never forgot to call me "Hank". I hope Shakti is waiting on the other side.
