Darrel Yoder Obituary

Yoder Darrel Wayne Yoder, 61, died Wednesday, December 17, at his Plain City home with his family by his side. Darrel was born July 29, 1953, in Washington Court House, Ohio, to Simon R. and Wilma Jean (Sensing) Yoder. Upon graduating from Jonathan Alder High School in 1972, Darrel followed in his father's footsteps and became a carpenter and builder. He began his career as a custom home builder and later became president of Con-Tempra Homes, where he specialized in building log homes. He was also a skilled woodworker, focusing on interior trim and built-in cabinets. Outside of work, Darrel was a family man, an avid outdoorsman, and a lover of films. Darrel was at his best navigating the open waters-his passion was spending time on his boat skiing and tubing with his family. Darrel is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Karen Aileen (Krivanek); seven children, including Rebecca Lynn Rush (Michael) of Haymarket, Virginia, Darrel Wayne Yoder II (Angie) of Hilliard, Shaun Casey Yoder of Upper Arlington, Amber Christine Smith (Brian) of Powell, Nicholas Allen Yoder of Dublin, Ian Thomas Yoder of Columbus, and Madison Nicole Yoder of Plain City; seven grandchildren, including Trevor Austin Hughes-Smith, Gabriella Marie Rush, Samuel Wayne Yoder, Madelynne Grace Rush, Garrett Michael Smith, Josephine Kay Yoder, and Colton William Charles Smith; dedicated mother, Wilma Jean (Sensing) Yoder; five brothers; and two sisters. He is preceded in death by Karen Marie (Frey), his first wife who died in 1983, brother John Carl Yoder, who died in 1984, and father Simon R. Yoder, who died in 2013. Visitation will be held Friday, December 19, from 4-8 p.m. at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 202 E. Main Street, (State Route 161), Plain City. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 20. Pastor Jane Kuhns, Darrel's sister, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice and Home Health, 779 London Ave., Marysville, Ohio 43040 and visit fergusonfuneralhomeinc.com to share a special memory.

I didn't known Darrel but I know Shaun. Shaun is intelligent and funny. If Darrel was anything like Shaun, I know I would have liked him. Paula Jansen
