David Smith Obituary

SMITH David M. Smith, 67, peacefully at his residence. Retired Franklin Co Deputy Sheriff in 1987 and ODU Safety & Security Director in 2006. David is preceded in death by his parents John Smith and Lillian (Scarberry) and brothers John and G. Robert. He is survived by his wife, Julie (Schneider); sons, Sean (Elaine) and Brent (Renea') Smith; grandchildren, Olivia, Rose, Halee and Kale Smith; sister, Imogene Weekly; numerous nieces and nephews including Mary and Dennis Nielson. Friends may call on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 700 Creekside Plaza, Gahanna, OH 43230 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2 p.m. Friends may send flowers and/or contribute to Mt. Carmel Hospice or NAICCO. Arrangements entrusted to DAY-MANOFSKY FUNERAL SERVICE.

I worked for David at Ohio Dominican University and I would not be where I am today at ODU if not for him, his guidance and patience. The last thing he said to me several months ago on campus was; "Continue to do me proud." I will do just that Dave!
