Deborah Mandra Obituary

Mandra, Deborah Sue
1957 - 2018
Deborah Sue Mandra, passed away Tuesday morning, September 18. She is preceded in death by her adopted parents Frank James Musumeci and Irene Anna Musumeci. Also by her beloved horses Bond and Ooack. Debi was born on July 15, 1957 in Manhattan. She is survived by her many friends, family and myself, Fred Fultz. She worked in the magazine publishing industry (sales) in New York City under the umbrella companies of Helen Gurley Brown for many years before moving on to educational publishing and educational content (computer) for K-12 and higher education. Debi was a focused, self driven employee. She built a name for yourself in all her industry's through hard work and integrity. She was a role model at work for all and mentored many young professional women. Debi had that same drive and focus outside work, training and finishing a full Ironman (first and only) at the age of 52 and also finishing many marathons. She had many passions throughout her life, horses (jumping and dressage), dancing (ballet) and exercising. Her faith was anchored with Jesus. Debi was the best kind of believer.....the best kind of person....strong in her core values and comfortable in the strong woman she was. There was not one fake bone in that woman's body. These were her best and most attractive qualities. You could not ask for bettor person to share and have in your life. She was a defender and protector for all she knew. Her family were her friends, Debi loved you all dearly. Her children were all her house and barn critters (horses, chickens, goats, dogs and cats). If you cared about animals you were good with her if you didn't not so much. Debi deserved the world but needed and wanted very little. She was simply most happy in her barn listening to her horses eat their grain. She always said that sound was therapeutic ......she was right....it is. Debi had a sincere inner energy, a strong mind and a balanced, kind heart. People who knew her would say the same. She will be missed by many. I'll always have a hole in my heart for Debi that will never mend. I was fortunate to have her love in my life. Thank you all who had Debi in their hearts and prayers. Another thank you to all her work relationships (she considered her friends) for reaching out and paying your respects. It was overwhelming support and a great compliment to Debi and the impact she had with people at work. Finally, thank you to Debi's previous employer CSA Creative for their understanding, patience and taking good care of her. Debi would want you to make a donation to any animal shelter near you. She would also want you to go there, adopt an animal and get one with problems. They make the best pets. Debi's life will be celebrated at a later date. Condolences at www.morelandfuneralhome.com.

I would like to thank everyone who posted. It's hard to believe Debi's be gone for a year. If you are like me you often read these caring and thoughtful messages. The words define the impact Debi had in people's lives. She was definitely loved by many. For me there's definitely still a void. It will never go away. You just learn to live with it. Charles, thanks for sharing about Debi's childhood. She spoke of her childhood fondly. Charles if you would like to talk feel free to call me on my cell (614-506-2653). All the best everyone, Fred

We shared a wonderful childhood growing up and living together in the Bronx. We were very close like sister and brother. I have so many fond memories from those years. When I moved away in 1968 I was heart broken that we wouldn't see each other. We lost touch for almost 20 years after that but got re-acquainted just before our uncle passed away in 1998. Then lost touch again for another 20 years. It came as a total shock when I was informed of her passing. May you rest in peace my dear cousin Deborah.

I knew Debi while I was with McGraw-Hill. I was ALWAYS pleased to make time for her regardless of my schedule. I've never met a more unassuming breath of fresh air and beam of sunshine. She just lit the day in what appeared to be an effortless endeavor.

So very sorry to hear of Debi's passing. Debi and I had worked together twice in our time in publishing, and we stayed in touch throughout the years. Debi was always a ray of sunshine, who never had a negative thing to say, and would do anything for anyone. She was a delight to know, and will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace, Debi. Love to you.

Debi was an inspiring running partner and friend! We finished our first marathon together and shared a love and interest of animals and the outdoors. I will always remember Debi as a strong and amazingly brave woman, who had a contagious smile and laughter and joy for life.
