Del Patton Obituary

PATTON Del Patton, age 81, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2009 at The Laurels of Worthington. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Helen Joan Patton; son, Greg (Barb) Patton of Tigard, Oreg.; daughter, Rita (Jaime) Holguin of Frederick, Md.; son, Kirk (Amy) Patton of Clarksburg, Md.; son, Leo (Janine) Patton of Columbus, Oh.; and grandchildren, Erik and Daniel Patton, Grace, Michael, Maggie, Jack and Sam Patton, Natalia, Gabriel and Carlos Holguin, Alex and Travis Patton; as well as his five sisters. Del is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two infant sons. Del is a graduate of Purdue University and received a Master's in Automotive Engineering from Chrysler Institute in Detroit, Mich., where he worked in the engineering division for 11 years. After moving the family to Worthington, Oh. in 1962, he retired after 26 years of service at Columbus Auto Parts. Del is also an Army veteran of WW II. He was an active member of Saint Michael's Church, Ohio Region Plymouth Club, the American Legion and Catholic War Veterans. Del's children remember him as a faithful father and a man of integrity and high moral standards. He valued hard work, discipline and diligence. He loved and enjoyed his wife and children and made them his highest priority. Del enjoyed adventure and planned many fun-filled family trips and vacations. He loved telling stories, reading to and playing with his children and grandchildren. He encouraged his children to pursue and develop their God-given gifts. Del's faithfulness and love to his family will never be forgotten. Friends may call at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, Oh. from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church, 5750 North High Street, Worthington, Oh. on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Alzheimer's Association - Central Ohio Chapter, 3380 Tremont Road, Columbus, Oh. 43221, phone 614-457-6003. http://act.alz.org.
