To the Koons family, we're so sorry to hear of the loss of a such great man. Our thoughts, prayers and hearts go out to you all. There are many wonderful memories that I have to remember Don. He had such a great spirit that would lighten my day when I saw him. I always looked forward to seeing him on the weekends. I would go out of my way to find his demo. I loved to run up behind him and tap him on the opposite shoulder as the side I was standing. After he got my little joke he would say "hey gal". He used to call me "Rosie babe", I thought that was cute, and I always tried to save him some produce because I knew how much he loved those grapefruits. We all miss him, but he hasn't left us at all, he'll always be in our hearts and even the littlest things like a smoothie will remind me of my good friend Don.

For My Babydoll

When I was just a little girl

Your house was my favorite place

You and June waving on the porch

Brought a smile to my face.

We played in your yard

And in your basement too

Aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents

And lots of delicious food!

It was sad when we left

When you and June waved goodbye

You were always magic to me

When we drove away I’d cry.

My uncle, my pal, my joy

You called me “Babydoll”

You made me feel so special

Ever since I was small.

I watched you grow older

But to me you never changed

The same old Uncle Don

I didn’t see that you’d aged.

And now you’re gone

And my heart does grieve

But to your frail body

It comes as a relief.

You rest now, Uncle Don

And when I come to call

You’ll greet me with a great big hug

And call me “Babydoll.”
