Dorothy Hannahs Obituary

HANNAHS Dorothy "Dottie" V. Hannahs, age 85, of Upper Arlington, went home to be with the Lord and her dear husband, Jim, on Sunday, July 13, 2008. She enjoyed a wonderful Christian marriage of 61 years to Jim Hannahs who preceded her in death in 2002. Dottie described him as the most handsome and romantic man that ever lived and she couldn't wait to be reunited with him again! Jim and Dottie were high school sweethearts form North High School. They lived for 52 years in the Upper Arlington home Jim built. They had three children, James R. (Katie) Hannahs, Gary W. (Kathy) Hannahs, and Bev (Tom) Gillespie. They had seven grandchildren, Tricia Hannahs, Mike Hannahs, Greg Hannahs, Scott Beall, Andy Beall, Scott Gillespie (deceased) and Mike Gillespie. She is also survived by brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Jerry Limes; sister, Margaret Fink; sisters-in-law, Ruth Limes and Bonnie Limes; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dottie was also preceded in death by brothers Ernie Limes, Bill Limes and brother-in-law Jim Fink. Dottie worked for Columbus Auto Parts, Westgate Electric and Plumbing, and retired from her favorite job with Upper Arlington Schools as a school bus driver. She was every student's extra grandma! Dottie grew up attending Linden Methodist Church and in recent years attended Riverside Bible Church. Dottie's interests included: traveling, gardening, listening to WRFD Christian radio, Upper Arlington Senior Center, and especially the Malibu racing Mustangs team. Friends may call 12Noon-4 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington. Memorial Service will follow at 5 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Bible Church, 5330 Olentangy River Road, with dinner following at the church for all guests. Private interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Bible Church, 5330 Olentangy River Rd., Columbus, OH 43235, in her memory. Dottie was THE best! She watched out for my son while she was the bus driver from UA to Columbus Academy. Bobby is teaching in China but if he were in town he would certainly be there to express his condolences personally.

"Mom" Hannahs - You were like a mom to me every time I visited your home. You and Jim always made me feel welcome. I loved spending time with Bev and you on trips or just at home. Will miss you. Love, Judy

One of my favorite aunts! I have many fond memories of spending the night at Aunt Dottie & Uncle Jim's home when I was young, including sitting on the roof for fireworks & the July 4th parade. I'm so glad mom & I got to see her July 7th. After telling her we loved her, her last words to us were "I'll see you in Heaven." Much Love to All,
Judy

Getting the remaining items from my home yesterday I saw the flag at half mast. It scared me, because I hadn't had the time to call Dottie and tell her I finally found a house. And that we were pretty close by. Dottie was my neighbor for nearly 19 years and we loved our homes. Jim helped build mine as well. I didn't have the green thumb as they did and I always told them I made their lawn look even better. But theirs was always pristine. They loved working in the yard. I am glad the last time I saw her, that I took a picture, not knowing it would be the last one. She was a great lady and I will miss her very much. I am so sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathy to you all.

Gma,

I'm glad the last thing I said to you was "I love you so much", because it's the most honest thing I can say to you right now. I'm honored to have fed you one of your last meals! How fun and meaningful to do something so small for you - after all the huge things you've done for me! I dedicated my Beethoven 9 concert to you on Sunday, July 13th. A full chorus was there, and I thought of grandpa singing....I wonder how the speakers are up in Heaven!?

I'll never forget the support you gave me and every brother, friend, or girlfriend, you came in contact with. I want to be just like you and grandpa when I'm a grandparent!

Love forever,
Andy
