I was shocked and saddened to hear of Dougs passing. We became fast friends when I first met him and shared so many stories and philosophies about the world we live on. He was such a caring individual and will be truly missed. I knew him for only a short time, but he will always be remembered fondly, especially every time I look around my place at the fossils, gems and artifacts we both so much enjoyed collecting and learing about. Rest in peace my friend

I am so saddened to hear of Doug's passing and more so that it is belated and I was unable to pay my respects to the family soon after his leaving this world. Although I met him only a few times, we shared so many of the same thoughts and interests, it was like I had known him for many years. God bless his family and friends, you are left with the most wonderful memories of a man who left us far too early.

Doug was always a genuine, sincere and humble person. His passing comes as a complete shock and it has to be devastating to anyone who knew him. My prayers go out to his friends and family. What a great loss we all have suffered.

I am sorry to hear about Doug's loss. He was a very caring man. I still have his memorial to Phoebe on my memory wall. I recall having many conversations with him at his store about Phoebe and my precious cat Sawdust. I had to have my Sawdust put to sleep on the 22nd and was dropping him off at Rutherford's to be cremated when Doug's memorial service was going on. I had gone in the back entrance not knowing an animal lover's service was being held up front... and not knowing it was Doug's service. Several people asked if my cat was Willow... before they realized that the kitty I was holding had passed. Doug was a sweet man that will be missed. I wish I had know about his passing so I could have paid my respects when I was there.

Doug was one of the finest human beings and closest friends this planet or anyone on it could ever be blessed by. I knew him since Marburn gradeschool, and he was always fun, funny, and had a great outlook and attitude on life. I am so glad that I went to the whetstone 30 year reunion in August, and saw Doug. We shared a lot of laughs, old times, and caught up on the last 5 years since I saw him last. The pictures and video I took of Doug at the reunion will be forever priceless, and held dear to my heart forever. God bless you Doug, you were truly one of a kind. We love you, brother.

I have very fond memories of Doug from Marburn Elementary School. I remember his blond hair and big blue eyes. I remember at our high school reunion in 1985, he showed up with a long Santa Claus-style beard and I complimented Doug on it.

What you saw with Doug Hall is what you got. He was sincere, and lots of fun.

I was so very sorry to hear of Doug's passing. Doug worked as a Counselor in Training for me at Lutheran Memorial Camp one summer back in the 70's, when I was at Capital Univ and worked as a camp counselor and he was still in high school. I liked him a great deal, and was overjoyed one day walking into his store in Grandview several years ago, and he said hello and introduced himself to me and we enjoyed fond rememberances of our time at camp that summer. As my daughters grew up they spent many enjoyable hours (and their allowances) on the many wonders his shop had to offer. It has been a gem on Grandview Avenue and as a life-long resident of Grandview I am very grateful for his shop and his life and influence on our community. I am saddened to hear of his passing and his family has my deepest sympathy. It was a privilage to have Doug as a friend and a neighbor.

Doug was always curious about the world around him. We spent many afternoons at his shop discussing travel, different cultures and politics. I knew him as great customer and a gracious host. He was always encouraging to me. I will always remember him and I will miss him. My most sincere condolences to his friends and family.
