Douglas E. Heichel

1960 - 2016

Heichel Douglas E. Heichel, age 55, of Columbus and formerly of Mansfield, passed away Friday, January 17, 2016 at OSU Medical Center. He was born on July 22, 1960 in Mansfield to the late Jack and Ruth (Keller) Heichel. Doug was a graduate of Mansfield Madison High School in 1978 and The Ohio State University. Throughout his life he worked in various fields of interest and in numerous capacities with the operations of Dairy Queen. A proud Eagle Scout, he lived his life according to the Scout Law. Having a huge heart he was fun loving and a mentor to many work associates. He was also an avid gamer, and former little league coach. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others, being a wonderful father to Derek Caley who precedes him in death, and as a true and loyal friend. Those left to cherish his memory are numerous close friends and extended family members. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, April 2nd at the DeVORE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, SR's 3 at 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074, where memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. Just as Doug lived his life giving in many ways memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
