Wishing the Clay family blessings as they celebrate the life of their loved one. We spent time together working on projects at WDTN and in the 90's while he was GM/Station Manager @ WOSU. Awesome talent who gave much to the world of entertainment in many areas. He was a nurturing and caring human who definitely left a legacy that his family can be very proud of. Peace be with you as you celebrate his life. Cathy Lewis-Wright of Cleveland, OH.

I would like to send my deepest condolences to the Clay family during your time of loss. Professor Clay was my Radio/TV Production & Communications instructor during my days at CSU. His no non-sense approach made sure that you did not come to class unprepared. The passion, the commitment and dedication he put into each class made you feel honored to be in his class and presence. I definitely cherish the times with Professor Clay and respect that he encouraged you to be the best at whatever discipline you choose. I'm sorry, I will rephrase that last statement, he demanded that you be the best. Thank you my fellow CSU Alum and may you rest in God's loving peace.

I was sad to hear of Edwin Clay's passing. My memories of him are limited to him being my (young) high school baseball coach during my junior and senior year. Having moved from the Dayton area in the early '70s and living in far away places, I (sadly) did not know of his professional accomplishments until reading his obituary. So glad our lives intersected during those hours of practice and games and to have known him for a short time. I can really appreciate the accomplishments and legacy he leaves. Another great Dunbar Wolverine. May the God of comfort provide the strength to the family.

Ed launched my more than 20 year broadcast career at WOSU television and radio when he hired me to host a TV interview show in 1979. He saw something in me, took a chance, and mentored me in my early television years. I will always be grateful for his faith in me and his guidance. Peace and blessings, Ed.

I teach at Central State University and had the pleasure of getting to know Ed Clay. I did not know Ed well, but I admired him greatly. He was a man of many talents who shared his talents widely.

Ed had high standards in the classroom. He expected a lot of his students. He did not condone bad behavior. He was known as a "tough" teacher, yet many students told me that Ed was their favorite teacher at Central State.

Ed led WCSU-FM for six years. He updated the station in many ways and trained many students for careers in radio. He was passionate about jazz, which made him a great fit for the station.

Teacher. Broadcaster. Jazz lover. Musician. Composer. Photographer. Ed Clay was a renaissance man. I wish I had half his talent and passion for life.
