Elma Mae Downs

Downs Elma Mae (Mingus) Downs, 86 of Chesterhill passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday May 14, 2017. Born May 18, 1930 in Worthington, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Dale Richard and Ora Mabel VanHorn Mingus. She retired from the Strouds Run State Park. Elma enjoyed crocheting and cooking for her family. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert Downs of Chesterhill; a daughter, Joyce (Dennis) Kellner of Orient; a son, Craig (Shannon) Downs of Chesterhill; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Thomasina) Kellner of Harrisburg, Heather (Adam) Brown of Chesterhill, and Tiffany (Betsy) Downs of Athens; and five great grandchildren, Caleb and Keigan Kellner, Haylee and Matthew Brown, and Akillya Keplinger; brother, Richard "Buck" Mingus of Crooksville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters Doris Downs and Gayle Bolyard. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Bishopville Church of Christ with John Wright officiating. Interment will be in the Dew Cemetery, Perry County. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
