Erik Patterson Obituary

Patterson Erik Sean Patterson, 44, AKA "Bigboi", March 15, 1971 - August 25, 2015. Erik published a book of his poems entitled "Father of two children, Child of one God" He graduated summa cum laude May 2015 from The Ohio State University in social work. He was also a renown tatto artist. Preceded in death by his grandparents Dist. Eld. Floyd and Willa Johnson, Wesley and Sadie Patterson and his beloved other mother Rose Turner. He is survived by his children, Allison Nicole and Elijah Trevon; parents, Larry and Saundra Patterson; brothers, Brian (Melissa), Billy (Lori) and David (Betty); his aunt, Patricia Edwards; uncles, David and Ralph Patterson, all of Steubenville, OH; and many other family and friends. If desired, please wear scarlet and gray. Special thanks to Dr. Lee Jordan, Erik's hero, and all of those that helped him while he was in Riverside and Grant Hospitals. Funeral service 12 noon Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Grace Apostolic Church, 1743 E. Lakeview Ave., Columbus, OH. 43224. Friends may call 10 a.m. and with family 11 a.m. until time service. Interment Obetz Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to CALIMAN FUNERAL SERVICES, 3700 Refugee Rd.

I met Erik when he was a student at Columbus State Community College. Although our meeting was brief, I KNEW he was a very special man! He was such a compassionate person who LOVED LOVED LOVED his son and daughter with EVERY OUNCE OF HIS HEART as well as the rest of his family!

Erik didn't make friends, he collected new family. He didn't simply "like" people, he loved with his whole heart. During a conversation with him, Erik made u feel like the single most important person in the world. No matter what was going on in his life, you would always find him with a smile on his face and a "Thank You Jesus" on his lips. He was certainly one of a kind!!! Erik made this world a brighter, more cheerful and happy place to live!!! I rejoice and take comfort in knowing that he is in the arms of the Jesus that he loves so much. The tears I shed are just the overflow of my heart...to be a friend of Erik's was to know you were loved and all you could do in return was love him back, genuinely.
You are missed already BigBoi!!!

One of the best people I have ever known has past away. Eric was my classmate at osu. I am engaged to the woman of my dreams because he encouraged me. He always had a joke and any class we had together we always sat with each other. I even have one of his tattoos on me. Any time I told a joke that crossed the line Eric always had one that crossed it further. We were not even aware he was sick. The last time I saw Eric was at graduation. He was so proud. I do not have many friends. I considered him one of the few that was. He touched my life in such a profound way. He is my idea of what a social worker should be and is one of my heroes

I met Erik quite a long time ago through my Aunt Rose Turner. I remember how funny he was and how talented he was he was an amazing person to be around with a heart of gold. He was family to me and always will be I know my Aunt Rose is embracing him now. We love you Erik you will always live on in our hearts.
