Erma Jackson Swain

SWAIN Erma Jackson Swain was born October 10, 1947 to the late Rosa and Mack Jackson, Jr. in Brusly, LA. She departed this life on June 30, 2006 at 10:55 p.m. at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. Erma accepted Christ as her personal savior in 1957 and was baptized by Rev. R. C. Smith at the Israelite Baptist Church, pastored by Rev. John Watson in Brusly, LA. She graduated from the former Cohn High School, Port Allen, LA, University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, LA with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1969. She received a Masters in Hospital Administration from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan December 2005. She married Richard Swain on February 14, 1987. To this union they had one daughter, Ermeika Swain. Erma was a disciple of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church under the pastorship of Dr. Charles E. Booth for 12 years. She is preceded in death by her parents Mack and Rosa Jackson, brother Mack Jackson, III, grandparents Sadie Lights, Walter and Laura Ann Shepherd. Her memory will always be cherished by her loving and devoted husband of 19 years, Richard Swain and loving daughter, Ermeika; 4 sisters, Anna and Jacqueline Jackson, Tuscson, AZ, Mona (Willie) Young and Rosa Jackson, Brusly, LA.; 1 uncle, Sidney (Catherine) Lights, Baker, LA.; 4 aunts, Lorraine (Joe) Randel, Bernadine (Carlton) Gay, Mary Williams, Brusly, LA and Yvonne (Albert) Knox, Port Allen, LA.; 2 nieces, Roshaunda Jackson and Mykeisha Young; nephew, Willie Young, Jr.; Godchildren, Deryon Stewart, Melissa Hall, Norman Jordan, Tillerie Darby, MyKeisha Young, Kaniya and Isiah Prewitt and a host of other family, friends, co-workers, and disciples of Isralelite and Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Local funeral service 12Noon Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 428 E. Main St. Pastor Dr. Charles E. Booth eulogizing. The family will receive freinds at 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial at the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Lukeville, LA.
