Was very kind to me in relating his experiences for a book of mine - especially when I had to call him back for the same stories after my tape recorder broke! RIP, George.

Heard a wonderful story at his service today. He had a replacement eye (don't know why) he would pop it out, put it in his beer and ask the person next to him to "keep and eye on my beer" Wish I had taken the time to get to know him better. Neighbor.

I contacted George in 1986 with questions regarding the time he spent in baseball. He answered my letter and signed a 53 Topps baseball card. I had the opportunity to see George pitch during the 1962 season when he visited Vancouver with the Seattle Rainiers. George was one of my baseball card heroes.

I always enjoyed talking and hanging out with George. He always seemed full of life and had a story to tell. He was one of the good guys. My thoughts are with Billie and his family.
