Giuseppe Iacobone Obituary

Iacobone, Giuseppe "Joe"
1936 - 2021
Giuseppe A. "Joe" Iacobone, age 84, passed away Tuesday June 1, 2021 in Florida. Joe was born August 9,1936 in Alvito, Italy. He emigrated to the United States in 1961 at the age of twenty-five. He worked with his brother-in-law Frank Persichetti building homes. He was most proud of his home that he built on Waggoner Road, and he loved mowing his property in his underwear. He married his beloved wife, Lola, in 1975. Their passion for food culminated into several successful restaurants that spanned more than four decades. Their last restaurant, "Giuseppe and Lola's Trattoria" in Gahanna Ohio was a success beyond Giuseppe's wildest dreams. His greatest joy was sitting on the patio chatting with his guests. Each morning Giuseppe would shop for fresh produce because the purveyors of fresh produce was never fresh enough for Giuseppe. He wouldn't allow any of the employees to assist him in making his sauce, which you could smell from the parking lot. Giuseppe was made grandpa at age 77 and again at age 79 with two little boys who he always described as "the prettiest little boys he had ever seen". Jayden and Samuel changed Giuseppe's heart. Joe was eternally grateful for the opportunity to come to the United States and live his dreams. Every time he heard "America the Beautiful" his eyes would swell with tears. He deeply loved his country. Preceded in death by parents Loreto and Nunziata Iacobone. Survived by loving wife of 46 years, Lola (Lober) Iacobone; daughter, Gabriella Iacobone (Steve Layele); grandchildren, Jayden and Samuel Layele; mother-in-law, Helen Lober; sister, Prudenza Persichetti (Francesco); brother, Anthony Iacobone (Linda); nieces, Angela Persichetti (Greg Wolf), Concetta Persichetti, Martina Puleio (Anthony); nephew, Matthew Iacobone; great-niece, Alessia Puleio; great-nephews, Nico and Luca Puleio; brother-in-law, Larry Lober (Gail); sister-in-law, Susan Bower (Andrew); nephew and niece, Nicholas and Rebecca Bower. Friends and family will meet for funeral service on Wednesday, June 9 at 1pm at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel on the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI Funeral Home at 1068 S. High St, Columbus, OH 43206. To view and sign the on-line register, visit www.

I worked with Joe at Lola's creekside Cafe. He made his sauce in the morning shirtless and a towel wrapped on his head. I really liked Joe. I gave him an accordion for his birthday one year. I wonder if he ever learned to play
