Harold Schellkopf Obituary

SCHELLKOPF Harold B. Schellkopf, age 80, of Columbus, died Monday, February 21, 2005 at the Laurels of Norworth. Retired Assistant Managing Editor for News from the Columbus Dispatch after 38 years. Veteran WWII, U.S. Army Air Forces, 92nd Bomb Group, 326th Squadron Bombardier B-17 Flying Fortress, member of VFW 2947, Fremont, Ohio, WWII Round Table, 8th Air Force Historical Society, Dispatch Quarter Century Club, ProBus, past member of the Columbus Maennerchor, 1942 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and a 1948 graduate of Ohio University School of Journalism. Preceded in death by parents Carl and Margaret, brothers Carl Jr. and Arthur, sister Margaret. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Martha; son, Dan Schellkopf of Westerville; daughters, Linda Schellkopf and Nancy (Paul) Bohn of Mt. Sterling; granddaughter, Laura (Spencer) Hayden of Athens, Ohio; sister, Ruth Schellkopf of Remus, MI; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, N.R. (Bud) and Grace Kaufman and Elizabeth Hoffman of Fremont, Oh. At the request of the family, there will be a private graveside service at a later time in Fremont, Ohio. Contributions may be made to the Air Force Museum Foundation Inc, P.O.Box 33624, Wright Patterson AFB, 45433 in the memory of Harold Schellkopf. Arrangements by SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL.
