Hazel Ruth Mette Thomas

Thomas - Hazel (Anderson), Hazel Ruth Mette, age 87, died peacefully in her sleep early Friday, Feb 8, 2002 in Burleson/Mansfield, TX. Hazel was preceded in her journey home to her Heavenly Father by her husband of 62 years, Emerald 'Dutch' Thomas in 1998, whom she missed very much; also her parents, George & Nellie Anderson; brother LeRoy Anderson and sisters, Eileen Carlton and Loretta Johnson. Two sisters survive her, Lenore (Charles) Wagenknecht and Shirley (LeRoy) Willenbring as well as her 4 children. She was a loving and supportive mother to her children, Kay (Bernard) Ostertag of Hampton, MN, E. George Thomas of Boothbay Harbor, ME and Naples, FL. Robert W. (Pamela) Thomas of Mansfield, TX and William (Karen) Thomas of Inver Grove Heights, MN; as well as 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Born in South St. Paul, MN, she was a proud resident of that community for most of her life, with shorter residences in Inver Grove Heights and the West Side of St. Paul. Especially important to her was her position as secretary to principals of South St. Paul High School from 1958-1978, when she retired. Hazel was a kind, loving person with a love of reading, travel and being with her family. Funeral service 10:30AM Tues, Feb 12, at ENGLISH-MEEKER & KANDT FUNERAL HOME, 140-8th Ave No., South St. Paul. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation 4-8PM Monday and 1hr bfore service on Tuesday.
