Ida Scott Obituary

SCOTT (BOOKER) Ida Mae (Booker) Scott, 67, of Rancho Cucamonga, California, departed this life November 8, 2005. Born March 24, 1938 and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Ida graduated from East High School in 1955. She was employed as an Executive Secretary with the Defense Construction Supply Center, City of Columbus Division of Water, and the Columbus Public School System. In 1981, Ida and husband, David, moved to Rowland Heights, California where she was employed with the City of Los Angeles in the office of former Mayor Thomas Bradley; from there, she was employed with The L.A. Times Corporation until she retired in 1997. While residing in Columbus, Ida was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and transferred her Christian membership to St. Stephens Baptist Church in La Puente, California. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 50 years, David Milton Scott; four children, David (Karen) Scott, Steven (Pamela) Scott, all of Columbus, Lisa (Hal) Folsom of Rancho Cucamonga, and Nate (Jo Ellen) Scott of Bakersfield, California; sister, Catherine (Ronald) Blake; sisters-in-law, Betty Mahan and Eddie Ruth Booker, all of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Kayla, and Jasmine Scott of Bakersfield, Darrell, Mariah, and David Scott of Columbus, Nichole (Howard) Bates, Markeitha Scott of Columbus, and Nicole Scott of Florida; two great-grandchildren, Yasmine Scott and Xavier Bates, both of Columbus; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Ida is preceded in death by her parents James Allen and Lollie Margaret Booker, and her brother James Allen Booker, II. Homegoing Service 12 noon, Tuesday, November 15, 2005 in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of service. Rev. Joseph Woods, officiating. Interment Union Cemetery.

In times like these we just don't know what really to say, so I'll be brief. I do know one thing for sure, God does take care of you during times like these. I know all to well. So, to you and your family be encouraged. Do lean on God he's waiting to comfort all of you.
