Kay and family, I'm sorry to hear of your loss and will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Though I didn't know Jim personally, it is obvious he was devoted to and contributed enormously to the young people of Ohio (as well as his family) and for that we certainly all owe a great debt of gratitude. Cherish his memory and take comfort in knowing his influence will continue for generations. Mike Waring

Jim and I started teaching together at Barrett Junior High School in 1958, he was a fine educator who I enjoyed working with and being a friend. As a football and basketball official Jim had no peers, when he was handling the game you knew who was control on the field or floor, I know this as a principal of two high schools, toward the end or our careers as Columbus administrators it was my pleasure to again be in close contact with Jim, my depest sympathy goes out to all members of his family and to those who knew him and loved him Jim Furgason
