James Ross Finney

Finney James Ross Finney, age 83, of Worthington, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013 in his home. Born January 7, 1930, in Portsmouth, OH to the late Arthur Carl and Sallie Ann (Warnock) Finney. Formerly employed at Battelle Memorial Institute, North American Aviation-Rockwell, then retired from PERS and the Ohio Historical Center in Columbus. Jim served in the Navy stationed at the Naval Air Station at Port Columbus from 1947-1951. He married in the former St. Luke Lutheran Church in Columbus; a former trustee of the Colonial Hills Civic Assn.; member of the Ohio Historical Center and the Worthington Historical Society; graduate of Franklin University. He enjoyed visiting historical places and events, scenery and rides in old airplanes; the Tin Goose, Bi-Plane and B-17. Preceded in death by parents, brother Robert Finney, sister Mary Kah, sister-in-law Esther Frost. Survived by wife of over 60 years, Mary (K'Miller) Finney; daughter, Cherie A. Finney Gothard of Columbus; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Finney of FL, Helen Mowrey of Logan, Carolyn Bush of Phoenix, AZ; brothers-in-law, Charles "Bill" (Patricia) K'Miller of Thornville, and John (Joanne) K'Miller of Colorado Springs, CO; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service 2 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013 at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington, where the family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment with military honors at 4 p.m. Friday at New Fairview Cemetery, 27841 Fairview Cemetery Road, Rockbridge, OH 43149.
