James Shull Obituary

SHULL James R. Shull, 50, of Roseville, passed away peacefully October 31, 2012. He was an exceptional man. James was honest and true, and a man's man. His love, kindness, and generosity will never be forgotten. James was born August 6, 1962 in Columbus to the late Gilbert and June (Holat) Shull. He was the youngest of four siblings, each of whom he loved dearly. He graduated from Reynoldsburg High School in 1981. He retired after many years in car sales as a finance manager due to his illness in 2003. James worked diligently his entire life to provide for the family and friends that he loved. James is survived by the love of his life, partner of thirty-three years, Deborah Burke; daughters, Angela Jenkins, Natasha Shull; cherished and beloved grandchildren, MaKhaela Jenkins, Matthew Jenkins, Malakhi Jenkins; sisters, Donna (Traveler) Springer, Brenda (Jack) Williams; brother, Gary (Tina) Kinnison; nieces, Kelli (Jeremy) Kinnison-Sharp, April (Jaime) Diendl, Ashley Morris, Angel Morris, Jackie (Jordan) Fowler; nephews, Mark Burkeholder, Gary (Darlene) Kinnison Jr., John Michael Williams, Robert (Michelle) Osborne; many great nephews and nieces; and his loving friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert L. Shull, sister Carol Shull- McKray and his lifelong friends Paul "Brad" Annis, Jack Williams, Joe Smith, and Michael "Mikey" Erwin. A celebration of James' life will be held on TUESDAY, November 6, 2012 at 7:14 p.m. at PFEIFER FUNERAL HOME, 7915 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, 43068. The family asks that anyone who is able to please bring photographs of Jimmy to share (copies for the family are encouraged). In lieu of donations, please take a moment to whole-heartedly, lovingly, and genuinely do something kind for another human being, because that's what Jimmy would have done. This was his favorite poem: "The Guy in the Glass" by Dale Wimbrow, 1934. When you get what you want in your struggle for self, And the world makes you King for a day, Then go to the mirror and look at yourself, And see what that guy has to say. For it isn't your Father, or Mother, or Wife, Whose judgment upon you must pass. The feller whose verdict counts most in your life, Is the guy staring back from the glass. He's the feller to please, never mind all the rest, For he's with you clear up to the end, And you've passed your most dangerous and difficult test, If the guy in the glass is your friend. Some people may think you're a straight shootin' chum, And call you a wonderful guy, But the guy in the glass says you're only a bum, If you can't look him straight in the eye. You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years, And get pats on the back as you pass, But your final reward will be heartaches and tears, If you've cheated the guy in the glass.

To the Family, friends and loved ones of Jimmy, our hearts and sincere condolences to all of you during this difficult time. Though it has been many years, I will never forget Jimmys great smile and laugh. He was always kind to our family. I have a lot of great memories that we all shared, while growing up on Hootman and will remember and cherish them always. God Bless.
