James Whalen Obituary

Whalen, James
1958 - 2021
James Craig "Hoss" Whalen, 62, passed away peacefully in his sleep this past weekend. Jim was a 79 graduate of Brookhaven High School. Preceded in death by his father James Ray Whalen and his true love Candy Brumfield Wilcox. Survived by his mother, Rheta Whalen of Westerville; sisters, Jodi Chevalier (John), Amy Whalen-Hall (Duane); several aunts, uncles and cousins; nephews, Kevin Goodrich, Matt Stomm, Noah Wheeler; nieces, Amber Demonbreun, Mira Bainum; and many great-nieces and nephews. Jim also left behind scores of loving friends, which include close and lifelong friends Tony and Kevin, and his Uncle Dave, with whom he was more like brothers with. He worked for over 30 years in the hospitality business. He was a guitar player extraordinaire, and loved rock & roll music, especially the Rolling Stones. He was a car enthusiast, who once owned 3 Cadillac El Dorados simultaneously. A connoisseur of pizza and cold subs; collector of guitars and amps; vintage toys and slot cars. He was one of the most likeable, funny, and good hearted men you could know. He will be missed by all those who loved him and knew him. We ask family and friends to join us Sunday, May 2 from 12-4pm at The Fat Girl Bakery, 1347 Cameron Ave in Lewis Center for a private event for food, music and of course stories about the greatest storyteller ever. The Dude abides. Arrangements completed at MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Rd., Westerville.
