Ja'Niece Hicks Obituary

HICKS Ja'Niece Hicks, 13, of Columbus, departed this life Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 5:30 a.m. at Forum Health Trumbull Hospital from Smoke Inhalation. She was born August 30, 1997 in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of John Calvin Hicks and Deidra Ahisa-LaShea Johnson, coming to the area 6 years ago from Warren. Ms. Hicks was a member First Church of God Baptist Church, attended Groveport Jr. High School in Groveport, Ohio where she just finished the 8th grade, a journalist for the school newspaper, played softball for the Barnett Recreation Center, and enjoyed shopping. She leaves to mourn her father, John Calvin Hicks of Pittsburgh, PA; her mother, Ms. Deidra Ahisa-LaShea Johnson of Columbus; two brothers, Gregory A. Woods Jr. of Reynoldsburg, Oh., and Jonta Hicks of Pittsburg, PA.; one sister, Miss Jonea Hicks of Pittsburg, PA.; Gregory Woods Sr. whom helped rear her; her maternal grand-parents, Minister Daniel W. (Jackie) Johnson Jr. of Columbus, and Ms. Betty Jean Johnson of Warren; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Believers Christian Fellowship Church, where calling hours will be from 9-11 a.m. at the Church. Professional services entrusted to the STERLING-McCULLOUGH WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME.

Here I am visiting this page 13 years later with an eye full of tears. The hurt is still the same and i just wish things could've been different. I miss Ja'Niece so so much! Losing her was life changing for me and I haven't been the same since. Ja'Niece is forever in my heart. I will never forget you Ja'Niece! My child has your middle name and the love she gives me lets me know I'll be alright, but I will never stop missing you.

Ja'Niece words really cannot explain how much i miss you for anybody to loose a friend it really jst hurts at times sometime i sit in my room and think about all of our friends Deja and Toshi and would just laugh at the crazy things we did like just haveing fun as kids. I wish that i would have got to see you one last time, because talking to you on the night that you passed really tore my heart into pieces, i pray for your family especially your mom because any mother who looses a child will never get over that pain. I really just cannot believe that you are gone, from earth but never from my heart. i dont look at it as you being in any more pain because i know that you are in a very beautiful place and just to hear you talk or even to see you smile made every ones day feel really special i love you Ja'Niece may you Rest In Heaven, with the rest of God's wonderful children. <3

Deidra I can honestly say that I know what you are going thru..Its does get better with time, how much time one never knows. But thank God for the memories that you have of Ja'Neice. She will be missed by Nakila and the rest of her classmates. I know this is hard and I want you to know that you can call me anytime day or night and I am here for you. Ja'neice was the typical teenager I know for the times she and Nakila spent at my house and together at your home. We will be in Warren later on today and look forward to seeing you.
