I remember when i was in the 7th grade and i would try to play basketball with the older guys everybody dissed me and said i was too small. Javonte put me on his team even though there were other much better basketball players he could've chosen. He hlped my boost my self-confidence and helped my self esteem. He encouraged me to try again and even passed me the ball when he could've easily scored. He urged me to keep trying no matter what everyone said. He helped me work on my reverse lay up and helped me work on my shot. I'm still in disbelief that he is gone. I'm still having a hard time comprehending it. Peace be with the Clanton family.

To the Clanton Family,
My condolences go out to you. I am Sterling's big sister and a friend of Javonte. He came home many times with my brother and I grew to love him as my "other brother." He was such a well mannered, intelligent, and fun-loving person. My last memory of him was the two days they spent in Camden for their spring break. I remember us spending a lot of time together because I was soo excited about them finally getting a break from basketball. We shared sooo many laughs... stayed up until late in the night eating, watching movies, and conversating. I remember the night before they left: I heard footsteps going down the hall pass my room to the restroom. I yelled out "Sterling.. Te.. is that you?" Te responded, "It's me Keita..." and those were the last words I heard him speak. The morning before I left for work I didn't wake the boys to kiss them good-bye because it was too early. Instead I peeped in and said a silent prayer asking God to bless them as the traveled back to school. Never knowing that it would be my last time ever seeing Te again. I know that he's definitely in Heaven smiling down on each of us. He loved his family and was such a WONDERFUL person. I prayed that my brother would go to college and meet someone with morals and values; someone who knew and believed in the wonderful God that we serve; someone who wanted the better things in life; a person with goals and aspirations... and God sent my brother Javonte. Although it was only for a short period of time, it was long enough to make a lasting impression in the heart of not only my brother's but my family's also. To the family, know that Te loved you and that you now have a guardian angel in heaven who will always be there in spirit... God never makes a mistake!

I did not know Javonte, but my heart and prayers goes out to everyone that shared a part of his life. I heard the story on my local news the day after the game and my heart broke. Your son, your friend, your teammate seemed like an extraordinary young man and I offer my condolences to each of you. Whatever this young man was to each of you, build off of the legacy he has left behind. However, he has touched your heart use him as an example: each day show appreciation and love to family and friends. Hold one another close a little while longer and never let bitterness or resentment linger in your heart. Javonte's life here was not long, but we all know God does not make mistakes. Take the time and opportunity you have with other's to show Javonte how much of a blessing knowing him really was. Again, my heart and prayers embraces each of you. May God strengthen you in His own time. ~My Deepest Sympathy~

To the Family of Javonte', I wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU for sharing this wonderful young man with all of us. Yesterday was a clear indication of Javonte's character and the effect that he had on all of us.
I first met Javonte at my daughters birthday party, I was cold and I'll never forget him saying " here Mom, you can put my jacket on." My first impression was, someone has raised this young man right. He was kind, mannerable, and had a smile that lit the room.
I pray that God will comfort you all during this time of sorrow, and may you rest in knowing that we all will walk away a better person because of something big or small that Javonte' has left with us!
God Bless all of You!

Javonte was an enthusiastic young man who was such a spark on the court! I will always remember him bringing his basketball to the guidance office while we discussed his schedule. That ball was an appendage to him and oh,how he loved playing that game!
What a tragic loss for all who knew him. May God and the support of family and friends bring you peace.

To the Clanton family:
Javonté was one of my favorite students of all time. His positive attitude, his love for other people and his joy of being alive were all things that helped all of us be better people. His Spanish name was "Papi Chulo" and it fits such a wonderful young man. He will be missed but I am a better person for having known and taught him.
May God bless and comfort each of you.

To the Clanton Family,
My family got to meet Ja'Vonte when he came to Camden, SC with my nephew Sterling from college in Septemeber of 2008. Ja'Vonte was such a handsome and sweet young man and we became to love him just as he was our very own. I cherish the time we spent together. He had a chance to attend church with us and we could tell he was annointed and God had his hands on him. God picked a beautiful flower for his garden. I know you all feel better to knowing that he is with God.
He and Sterling came to Camden the week of their spring break for a few days. That Tuesday night before they left, we all ate and sat in my parent's den and watched a movie. We laughed and just had a good time. The Wednesday morning before they left to go back to Aiken, I went over to my parent's house to give Te and Sterling my goodbyes. They both were still in the bed at 7:15am and they told me they were leaving at 7:30am. I first kissed Sterling and told him I loved him and would see him the next time he came home and then I went and kissed Te and told him the same thing. He told me he loved me too and I knew he did. I then said yawl better get up it's 7:15. I heard Te say, Sterl, get up. That was the last time I saw him or heard his voice.
Ms. Clanton, you raised a fine young man and our family was blessed to get to know him for the short time we did. He touch our lives. We will forever remember him. Please know that you all have an extended family in Camden, SC in the Council, Crim and Warren families. We love you!

Te what's poppin man? You are such a great young man and your legacy will continue to live on through everyone. I appreciate all the times that you gave me relationship advise and encouragement with Tank. (Don't worry, we are still holding it down strong for 4 years now.) I know you are going to do great in heaven, just don't be bullying nobody and embarrassing people TOO BAD on the court. Love ya, see you soon!! :)

To the Clanton family:

My prayers and condolences go out to you. As you already know, Te is such a great young man and loved by many. No need to worry about him, he is "holding it down", as he would say, and enjoying being with KL again. God bless you!!

Te' i can't begin to explain how hard it is for me to say goodbye to you. It was about 5 years ago when we met and you were the coolest guy i'd ever met. Now maybe thats why i never looked at you like "that". But you set the standard, you told me the only way to get what i wanted in life was to raise the bar, live beyond my standards. The last ime i spoke to you was when i was leaving WV to come home 2 weeks ago, and you told me 2 be careful and call when i arrived. And i did. AS much as this hurts me, I appreciate you, your presence and all that you've done for me. i love you,Aubrei loves you and we will meet again one day i promise.
