Jeff Aldridge Obituary

ALDRIDGE Jeff Aldridge. A funeral service for Jeff Aldridge, 49, of Hebron, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012, at the Heath Church of Christ, 1331 Chapel Way, Heath, with Pastor Steve Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. On Monday afternoon, January 2, 2012 Jeff passed from this life into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband, father, co-worker and friend committed to presenting his faith through his life, no matter the circumstance. Physical illness or limitation had no effect on Jeff's ability to communicate the hope he had through faith in Jesus Christ. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University and spent his career with the Columbus Division of Fire at Station 13 on Arcadia Street. Jeff became a Columbus firefighter in April 1989 and continued until his May 2010 retirement. He had been a member of the Heath Church of Christ and a member of the Maranatha Bible Church. Born January 18, 1962, in Columbus he was a son of the late Ron Aldridge and Toni Aldridge of Westerville. Surviving are his wife, Gina (Smith) Aldridge, whom he married on September 22, 1990; his beloved children, Allison, Jenna, Kristen; brothers, Tim (Jane) Aldridge of Delaware, Dan (Chris) Aldridge of Columbus; his father and mother-in-law, Ken and Mary Smith of Somerset; brother-in-law, Mark (Misty) Smith of Glenford; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Jeff) Wilson and Juli (Art) Kunkler both of Somerset; several nieces and nephews; an uncle, Gary (Barb) Aldridge of Delaware; and an aunt, Virginia Dennis of Westerville. In addition to his father, a brother Mike Aldridge preceded him in death. Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at the BRUCKER-KISHLER FUNERAL HOME, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, 740-366-3343, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Aldridge children, 120 Canyon Villa Ct., Hebron, OH 43025 or Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, OH 43058. I attended Beechcroft HS with Jeff and have nothing but fond memories of the times we shared. I can still see his coy smile, the gleem in his eye....and then he would say the funniest things!!! He was always "Jeffie" to me. While he was a bit shy, he was always sweet and compassionate. May God bless his family with strength and love and know that he was a friend to many.

Jeff's has touched a lot of people over the years. I'll never forget him air guitaring Ted Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever" during a biology exam in 11th grade at Beechcroft. It didn't help me identify the disected body parts of a frog but it put a smile on my face! May the Aldridge family find comfort in Jeff's love.

I grew up in Devonshire near Jeff. He graduated with my brother Jim. He was always up for football or water skiing with us. Loved seeing him on fire runs and sharing old times. Lots of us Beechcroft guys in the fire service. God Bless you and your family.

I can't begin to express my sorrow for Jeff's passing. He was one of my son Tom's best friends and felt like a member of our family. He and Tom went to Beechcroft High School and East Tennessee State University together and have had a lasting friendship. I have many precious memories of Jeff and I will treasure every one of them. Jeff was a kind, sensitive boy and man and had a great love of his family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Shirley Keefer
