Jo Huggins Obituary

Huggins, Jo Ellen
1936 - 2019
On Wednesday, January 23, 2019, Jo Ellen Kiracofe Huggins, a loving wife of 61 years, mother, grandmother and dear friend, 82, Westerville, was called home to be with Jesus and loved ones passed before. Jo Ellen was born on Feb. 9, 1936, in Parkersburg, WV to Otis and Majel (Chapman) Kiracofe. She lived in Belpre, OH, and Fredericktown, OH before settling in Columbus. She received her BA in Education from The Ohio State University in 1957, and taught Business Ed. at Crestview Junior High, West H.S., and Northland H.S. On June 16, 1957 she married Ralph Huggins at the Methodist church in Fredericktown, OH. They have one daughter, Molly (Tom Beam) and two grandsons, Austin Huggins Beam, a junior at West Point, and Griffin Thomas Beam, a senior at St. Charles Prep. Jo Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, and older brother Lawrence Hamilton Kiracofe. She is survived by her husband; daughter and son-in-law; grandsons; brother, Harlan Wayne Kiracofe (Marcey Smith); sister-in-law, Jeanette Henderson Kiracofe; niece, Emily Kiracofe Redetzki (Burt Redetzki); and great niece and nephew, Tyler and Mallory. A deacon and elder at Overbrook Presbyterian church, and past matron of Eastern Star, Jo Ellen was also a member of many card and book clubs until her passing. Jo Ellen was a wonderful seamstress, and also made quilts for people who received new homes through Habitat for Humanity. She loved playing cards and board games with her family and friends, traveling with her husband, and attending local theatre productions and OSU girls basketball games. Most of all Jo Ellen loved attending her grandsons sporting events and rarely missed one. She has left loving memories with all who new her. Visitation will be held from 1-3 Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 4131 N. High St., Columbus. The funeral will follow immediately at the church at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Overbrook Presbyterian Church or to the ALS Association of Central & Southern Ohio, 1170 Old Henderson Rd., Suite 221, Columbus, Ohio 43220; a disease from which her late brother passed.
