Joan Salamony Obituary

SALAMONY (PONTIUS) Joan Adele Salamony, age 72, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2011 at her home in Galloway in the surroundings of all she loved. She was born on May 19, 1938 to the late Howard and Catherine (Reinhard). Joan graduated from Our Lady of Victory and was employed for many years by Lazarus, where she enjoyed finding just the right purchases for her family and friends. She looked forward to the Spring flowers and adored anything that was unique to a garden, and was known to stop and get "clippings" on any destination. As Memaw, she was known to leave a little something from the "Princess of Gold" for her grandchildren's discovery. Her spirit, strength and enduring love will live in all of us as she ever demonstrated through her fight with Ovarian Cancer for 4 years. She is preceded in death by her brother Donald Pontius. "Oni" is survived by her husband of 53 years, Michael L. Salamony; her children, Michele (Harold) McClaine, Joseph (Leslie) Salamony, Marie Salamony, Melisa (Curtis) Fulling. Known as "Memaw" to Heather (Anthony) Sowers, Hayley and Hal McClaine IV, Vincent, Jaclyn and Maria Salamony, Cameron and Collin Fulling. Adored by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Pontius, and her niece and nephew, Laura and Jeff (Katie) Pontius. Loved faithfully by her dog, Lucy. Friends may call FRIDAY, March 18, 2011 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME 1177, W. 5th Avenue, from 4-8 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. on SATURDAY, March 19 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 1559 Roxbury Road, Columbus. Rev. Fr. Ron Atwood, Presider and Rev. Msgr. Romano Ciotola, Concelebrant. FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO MEET AT CHURCH. Private interment at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in memory of Joan to Mount Carmel Hospice c/o the Mount Carmel Foundation, 6150 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio, 43213-9924. Melisa and Family,

Please accept my condolences for the lose of your mother.

Loss of Mother Poem

Now that I am gone,
remember me with smiles and laughter.
And if you need to cry,
cry with your brother or sister
who walks in grief beside you.
And when you need me,
put your arms around anyone
and give to them what you need to give to me.
There are so many who need so much.
I want to leave you something --
something much better than words or sounds.
Look for me in the people I've known
or helped in some special way.
Let me live in your heart
as well as in your mind.
You can love me most
by letting your love reach out to our loved ones,
by embracing them and living in their love.
Love does not die, people do.
So, when all that's left of me is love,
give me away as best you can.
